- The degree symbol is Unicode U+00B0 (Degree Sign).

- It is a single character: it survives copy and paste into any text field and counts as one character against limits.
The degree sign marks temperature and angles: 72°F, a 90° turn. Unicode also has single characters for ℃ and ℉, though writing the degree sign plus a letter is more common. Do not confuse it with the masculine ordinal º, which is underlined in many fonts.
